Lagos State Health Management Agency

Your good health, our mandate

The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), has partnered Nollywood practitioners on “NOLLYINSURED”, a health scheme initiative that will provide an opportunity for the movie practitioners to access quality healthcare in the State.

The Acting General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, who disclosed this at a Stakeholders’ Forum organised by the Agency at Alausa, Ikeja, commended the practitioners on the laudable initiative, saying that the health of every resident is important to the Lagos State Government.

She explained that the partnership will ensure all members of the different Associations under “NOLLYINSURED” have access to medical treatment at an affordable cost in any hospital subscribed to the Lagos State Health Scheme, stressing that the scheme is open to all residents of the State.

According to her, “With a payment of N40,000 annually, a family of six consisting of the father, mother and four children below 18 years would have access to care while an individual who pays N8,500 annually will enjoy the same benefit at any hospital of their choice under the Lagos State Health Scheme”.

“Any LSHS enrollee, who is sick and does not want to go to the hospital, can also consult a Medical Doctor via audio or video call to the toll-free line: 08000EKOMED (08000356633) from the comfort of their homes”, she added.

While reiterating that the Agency would not relent in its efforts at ensuring easy access to healthcare, Zamba applauded the government’s strategy of making good, affordable and quality healthcare available to residents, irrespective of their gender, tribe or faith.

The Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, urged the practitioners to enroll their members in the Lagos State Health Scheme through ‘NOLLYINSURED’, in order to get quality healthcare, whenever the need arises.

She maintained that the State Government is passionate and committed to ensuring the wellbeing of all residents in the State, which necessitated the heavy investment in the establishment of the Lagos State Health Scheme for all residents.

Akinbile-Yusuf also appealed to the NOLLYWOOD practitioners to sensitise all their members and the general public on the benefits of the Lagos State Health Scheme and ensure that they enroll in the scheme for themselves and their families.

Earlier, the Chairman of NOLLYINSURED concept, Mr. Fred Amata, thanked the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the creation of the health scheme, stressing that the LSHS now provides an opportunity for the movie practitioners to access quality healthcare.

Amata explained that the idea of ‘NOLLYINSURED’ originated from the need to guarantee quality healthcare for NOLLYWOOD practitioners and also avoid a situation where the members will be running helter-skelter whenever they are confronted with medical challenges.

He disclosed that the group would continue to partner with the Lagos State Government and ensure the enrolment of all Nollywood practitioners, adding that good health will enable the actors, actresses, producers, directors, creative designers and screenwriters among others to discharge their roles effectively and efficiently.
