The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has extended its sensitisation campaign on the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS) to the residents of Igbogbo Community in Ikorodu.

Speaking at the palace of His Royal Majesty, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali during the campaign, the Acting General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, explained that the social health insurance scheme is aimed at reducing the financial catastrophe that residents encounter whenever there is a medical challenge.

Zamba, who was represented at the event by the Head, Business Development and Marketing of LASHMA, Mr. Rotimi Olatunji, stated that the benefits inherent for all subscribers under the scheme are enormous as they would be able to access treatment for medical challenges without huge payment.

According to her, “With a payment of N40,000 annually (for a family plan), a family of six consisting of the father, mother and four children below 18 years would have access to care while an individual who pays N8,500 annually (for an individual plan) will also enjoy the same benefit at any hospital of their choice under the Lagos State Health Scheme”.

“LSHS Enrollees who are ill and do not want to go to the hospital, can also consult Medical Doctors via audio or video calls to the toll-free line: 08000EKOMED (08000356633) from the comfort of their homes”, she added.

Zamba, therefore, urged the people of Igbogbo kingdom to enrol on the scheme to enjoy medical treatment at an affordable cost.

In his remarks, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, thanked the Agency for extending the sensitisation campaign to the residents of the community and directed all the Elders-in-Council and representatives of various associations present at the event to enlighten other residents and ensure their enrolment on the Scheme.

“The pressure on Obas and Baales to pay huge medical bills of their people who could not afford them will reduce with the Lagos State Health Scheme. Such money could be used for other development projects in the community,” he said.

While assuring that the people of Igbogbo will continue to support the government in realising its policies and programmes, the Oba said that communities with physically, mentally and psychologically healthy persons will contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the State at large.

The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom finally commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his determination and commitment towards the provision of universal healthcare in the State, noting that LSHS would further provide the opportunity for residents to be conscious of their health and well-being.
