LAGOS LAUNCHES ILERA EKO CAMPAIGN

In a bid to create more awareness and sensitization on the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS), the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has launched ‘Ilera Eko’ campaign to achieve a universal health coverage for all Lagosians.

Speaking at the media launching at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, said the launching is to achieve a universal health coverage for Lagos residents and seek media support for ‘Ilera Eko’ campaign to integrate all forms of communications in achieving its mandate.

He said: ‘Ilera Eko’ is to assist the government in achieving the State’s agenda of providing universal health coverage for residents. ‘Ilera Eko’ is a call to action for all residents to prioritize their health and buy into the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS). It connotes the well-being and health of all residents of Lagos State”.

Abayomi said the promise to leave no one behind could only be achieved with effective communication activities via the social media, search engine optimization, mobile billboard and all other means of communication.

While emphasizing the role of effective communication in realizing the objective of the programme, the Commissioner commended LASHMA for its efforts toward getting the message across the state. This, he noted, has helped to create awareness and sensitization on the scheme.

Speaking further, Abayomi disclosed that part of the communication strategy deployed by LASHMA was the music talent hunt aimed at encouraging interested members of the public to showcase their creative skills through the composition of a theme song for the ‘Ilera Eko’ campaign.

“Sixty three entries were scrutinized to get the most creative, melodious and well-arranged entry with Sola Soetan emerging the winner, thus becoming the pioneer Ilera Eko Ambassador”, Abayomi said.
